Lia was raised in Northern Ohio and is the second youngest of seven children.  She has a degree in psychology with a minor in plant biology from Ohio University.  She and her husband John enjoy cycling and participate in the Pelotonia bike race in the summer.  Lia is a real estate agent in Upper Arlington and is pursuing graduate studies in Psychology/Social Work.  She plays guitar, piano, and drums in her free time and is a participant in Columbus youth advocacy initiatives.  The favorite part of her day is coaching out on the water and teaching the sport of rowing to young women.  Lia credits rowing for building character and teaching perseverance and discipline needed to be successful throughout life.

Katherine Tedesco: Assistant Varsity Women's Coach

 

Katherine, a 2010 Upper Arlington Crew Alumna, is proud to be coaching at her Alma Mater. Row Bears! Katherine graduated B.A. in history with a minor in leadership studies from Marietta College and an M.A. in museum professions from Seton Hall University. In addition to coaching, Katherine works at the Wexner Center for the Arts in events and loves the Columbus art scene. She also does crossfit/circuit training several times a week and enjoys incorporating aspects of her own training into the team's workouts.  Katherine aspires to keep learning from rowing as a coach and inspiring others to love the sport as well.

Claire Duesdieker: Head Women's Novice Coach

Claire has been rowing for over 10 years. She started rowing because her Dad thought it was the best sport, and she has continued rowing because she agrees.  She grew up in California, and graduated from UC San Diego in 2015 with a B.A. in Environmental Policy. She moved to Columbus in late 2016 and started coaching at UA in early 2017. She loves sharing her knowledge and passion of rowing with anyone who will listen, but especially with the UA Crew Girls Team. She currently works at RegattaCentral. Besides rowing, she loves spending time with her fiancé, surfing the internet, reading, and talking about California.
