Dillon Lake LOC
UA Crew is a member of the Dillon Lake LOC (Local Organizing Committee). The Dillon Lake LOC is comprised of representatives from Harmar Rowing Club, Parkersburg South Crew, and Upper Arlington Crew, along with several community volunteers. Founded in 2012, the Dillon Lake LOC coordinates and organizes regattas on the Dillon Lake course. The LOC hosts several regattas per year, including the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships.
Being a member of the Dillon Lake LOC provides UA Crew with many benefits. In exchange for these benefits, UA Crew (and other LOC members) is required to provide volunteers to assist with the regattas the are hosted at Dillon Lake. Each UA Crew family is asked to sign up for at least one shift at these events. Note that the Dillon Lake LOC shifts are different from, and in addition to, the four volunteer shifts each family is asked to complete during the regular season.
The volunteer positions through Dillon Lake LOC are different than those available for the regular season. They enable the events to run smoothly and safely. Typically, UA Crew has focused on staffing volunteers in the following areas:
Launch boat drivers
Clean up (trash walk) of the regatta grounds after the regatta
UA Crew hosts special training clinics to teach its parent volunteers how to drive launch boats and help with timing. Any questions about volunteering for Dillon Lake LOC shifts can be directed to email@example.com.
